John Whitaker Straw (born 3 August 1946) is a senior British Labour Party politician. On 28 June 2007 he was appointed to the offices of Lord High Chancellor of Great Britain and Secretary of State for Justice. [1] Previously he was Home Secretary from 1997 to 2001, Foreign Secretary from 2001 to 5 May 2006 and Lord Privy Seal and Leader of the House of Commons from 2006 to 2007.
