Robert Zemeckis (born May 14, 1952) is an Academy Award and Golden Globe-winning American movie director, producer and writer. Zemeckis first came to public attention in the eighties as the director of "intricate cinematic jungle gyms"[1] like Back to the Future and Who Framed Roger Rabbit, though he has since diversified into more dramatic fare, including Forrest Gump, for which he won an Oscar. His films are characterized by an interest in state-of-the-art technology, including the early use of match moving in Back to the Future Part II and the pioneering performance capture techniques seen in The Polar Express. Though Zemeckis has often been pidgeonholed as a director only interested in effects,[2] film critic David Thomson has written that "[n]o other contemporary director has used special effects to more dramatic and narrative purpose....As writer and director, he has rarely allowed the show to lose sight of....human realities."[3]  (Read full article from Wikipedia...)

Forrest Gump Winner of six Oscars, including best picture, actor and director, this comedy drama was a box-office blockbuster in America, though its simple-minded patriotism was greeted with a certain cynicism in Europe. One can sneer at it, but one can't ignore it.
