In addition, we scan upcoming movie releases and TV appearances and provide sections on these too. Finally, we build connections between people via their entry in Wikipedia and every person is rated daily based on the density of news articles that are currently appearing on the web. The top rated people will appear each day in the 'In the News' section above.

This routine fish-out-of-water thriller from director Walter Hill offered Arnold Schwarzenegger one of his more interesting action roles before he became a superstar. Playing a stony, monosyllabic Soviet cop poses no real acting problems for the big man, and in James Belushi he has an agreeably foul-mouthed foil, as the pair team up to hunt for an escaped Russian drug dealer. Hill stages a series of entertainingly violent and increasingly silly set pieces, and there's an eclectic support cast that includes Peter Boyle, Gina Gershon and Laurence Fishburne, when he was still calling himself Larry. In this by-the-numbers monster movie, genetically enhanced killer bats are released upon an unsuspecting Texas town by a mad genius, whose only defence is: "I'm a scientist! That's what we do!" As the bats wreak havoc, a perky zoologist, her cowardly sidekick and the town's sheriff fight desperately to fend off the flying menace. The bats could make effective villains in a better picture, but the lead characters never say or do anything remotely interesting. One might complain that the mad genius disappears too quickly, but he's pretty boring too. When will they learn to genetically enhance formula film-making? This time the exhaustingly tense "dash for cash" transports us to Alaska's Dalton Highway - a fairly innocuous name for a hellish 414-mile stretch of ice that has allegedly claimed one life for every mile of road. Curves, gullies, hairpin bends, avalanches, whiteouts and a series of hills known as the rollercoaster (a lot less fun than anything you'd find in a theme park) make this a deadly drive. "It's not if you wreck, it's when you wreck," says one of the truckers grimly. Joining the old hands this season are rookie haulers Tim Freeman and Lisa Kelly, who doesn't have a beard or a beer belly, both of which seem to be necessary for this job. But tonight's hero is Jack Jesse, who specialises in hauling wide loads. A close call with an avalanche and the loss of traction going up a hill nearly does for him, though. "They don't pay us so much because it's easy," shrugs old-timer George Spears. "There are no girl scouts up here."
